The Russo Bros. Share How They Were Approached By Marvel To Direct AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME

Marvel directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently did an AMA on Reddit to take questions from the fans. As you know, the Russos are stepping away from Marvel to focus on other things for while. We hope that one day they will be back to give us more Marvel movies, but only time will tell if that will happen.

During the AMA, the Russos were asked how Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige approached them to make Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. This was their reply:

“Kevin, and co-president of Marvel Studios, Louis D'Esposito, asked us to swing by their offices while we were in post on Civil War. The conversation, in short, was, ‘Guess what. We want to make the two biggest films ever made and we want to shoot them back to back. And we want you guys to direct them.’ Our response -- ‘FuckK yeah.’”

Fans are sure glad that they accepted the challenge! They delivered two incredibly epic films that would have been difficult for any director to take on, but they freakin’ pulled it off!

During the AMA they also reveled that the most difficult day of filming for them was “Tony Stark’s Death.” I imagine saying goodbye to the character who launched the entire MCU couldn't have been easy. Hell, it was hard for the fans to watch him die! They went on to reveal that they knew Stark was going to die three years before they started shooting the film. Holding on to that knowledge must’ve been difficult.

While I’m looking forward to seeing what the Russo Bros. bring us next, it’s sad that they aren’t directing any more Marvel films any time soon.

The Russos next project is Cherry, which is a drama about an Army medic suffering from PTSD which will star Tom Holland.
