The Russo Brothers Tease Captain America's Romance in CIVIL WAR
Since being thawed out and returning to active duty, Captain America hasn't really had much time for a love life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that may be changing very soon.
ComicBook asked Captain America: Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo about the romantic possibilities in store for the character in their upcoming Marvel blockbuster:
Anthony (joking): "You mean, aside from Cap Bucky?"
Joe: "That falls under the surprise in the story as well, but we can only keep Cap romantically uninvolved for so long. At some point, something has to happen with that character, so we are very aware of his lack of romantic life. We want to keep dimensionalizing his character so maybe something interesting will happen."
I'm sure people have their own theories about this, but the movies have strongly hinted that Steve is still a virgin; in their write-up, though, CB pointed me to a clip of Hayley Atwell answering a fan question about this very topic, and she seems to think Steve and Peggy got it on before he was trapped in the ice:
We know Emily VanCamp is returning to Civil War to reprise her role as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, so perhaps something could heat up between the two of them on screen this time around...if there's enough time for that amid the huge story and crap-ton of characters that are going to have screen time in this movie.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6th.
