The SAILOR MOON Musical Is Coming to the United States
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live is a live-action Sailor Moon musical. It’s only been available to Japanese fans of the franchise until now. That’s right, the show that US Sailor Moon fans have been dying to see will have two shows in the United States.
One show will be in Washington D.C. and the other in New York City. Both are scheduled for March 2019, but no specific dates have been announced yet.
I’m guessing subtitles will be displayed on monitors all around the theaters so that fans have an idea of what’s happening. That, or they’re looking at getting a whole new cast for the US productions. In the trailer below, you can see that it looks pretty dynamite.
According to Nerdist, the Japanese version features an entirely female cast and that includes the actress who plays Tuxedo Mask. There are also reviews of the show that mention “overzealous choreography” which I would expect from a “2.5 Dimensional Musical,” which is the term used for live productions based on 2D formats according to Nerdist. Now, where’s my Yu-Gi-Oh! The Musical?
