THE SANTA CLAUSE Is Getting a Sequel Series at Disney+ with Tim Allen Returning
Tim Allen and Disney are back in business together as they are set to develop The Santa Clause sequel series for Disney+. Allen will produce the series and also return to reprise his role as Scott Calvin from the hit holiday film franchise.
The creator of Allen’s Last Man Standing, Jack Burditt, has also come on board as executive producer and showrunner. Last Man Standing writer-executive producer Kevin Hench will also executive produce the new series.
In the series, Scott Calvin "is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizes that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement for Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in life south of the pole. "
I think it’s great that this Santa Clause story is going to continue in the form of a series! My family and I enjoy watching the original films every year during the holidays, so seeing a continuation of that story is kind of cool and completely unexpected.
Production on the series is set to begin in March in Los Angeles. What do you think about Allen and Disney teaming up to build on the Santa Clause franchise?
