The Sequel to FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Has Already Been Written

I'm very excited about the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It looks like a great film, and it will be followed by two others in the coming years. The story is set in the 1920s and follows Newt Scamander's magical adventure in the United States. We have yet to see the first film in the trilogy, but according to director David Yates, J.K. Rowling has already completed the script for the sequel. While talking to GSNews, Yates said:

"We've done the first one, she's written the second one, she's got ideas for the third one. No one quite has ownership of them quite yet, in terms of having a relationship with the material, other than the relationship they'll have with the movie when it comes out."

Warner Bros. previously announced that Fantastic Beasts 2 would be released on November 16th, 2018 and that the third movie would follow on November 20th, 2020. I imagine the sequel will start shooting sometime in 2017.

Fantastic Beasts is set 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter movies. The story follows Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, who comes to the United States with his magic briefcase containing numerous magical creatures. While on his journey there's an accident that unleashes these creatures across New York City. Newt has to team up with his new allies to track the creatures down, all while avoiding capture by the American wizarding authorities and the sinister New Salem Philanthropic Society. The movie's cast includes Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, and more.

I'm curious to see how this story will play out across a trilogy of films. I imagine that it will be quite the magical adventure, and I'm looking forward to seeing it! Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will be released in theaters November 18th.
