As you know, The CW is developing a series adaption of the classic 1987 vampire film, The Lost Boys. If you’re a fan of the film, there’s a good chance that some of you won’t like the series.

Musician Gerard “G Tom Mac”, who was hired to write and arrange songs for the series, recently spoke about the vision of the series during an interview with SYFY Wire, and he explained that there’s no way the film will win with the hardcore fans of the movie:

"I’m sure it’s gonna be torn down by the hardcore fans; there’s just no way that this show can win. But it wasn't designed for the hardcore fans. It was basically trying to keep the essence of what the film projected ... It’s a reimagining and it’s an adaptation of the film because all the characters are in place. Cast-wise, it’s more diversified in coordination with the times, as it should be. It’s a little bit more female-driven in its way."

The CW passed on the first pilot that was created, but they ordered a second on to be made and it’s going to be a complete overhaul with a new angle. Here’s the description for the series that was previously released:

When a mother and her Gen Z sons move to the seaside town where she grew up, they discover there’s a sinister reason the local cool kids sleep all day, party all night, never grow up and never get old. Family bonds are tested as the brothers find themselves on opposite sides of a mythological struggle.

When talking about the theme song for the series, Gerard “G Tom Mac” said:

“They were adamant, obviously, about my theme song because you can’t have the show without that. With this, I’ve certainly pulled together a very modernized version of "People Are Strange" and then just creating contemporary, but cutting edge stuff that is appropriate for the show. And there are gonna be other artists [on the soundtrack] as well.”

It’ll be interesting to see what he ends up coming up with for the theme song, but to be honest, I don’t really care to watch a series remake of a great film that I enjoy. When talking about the current status of the show, he said:

"It’s stuck in limbo, even though they agreed to all the new scriptwriting and all of that. It’s hard to know; it’s a day-by-day thing for all these shows, when you can go back in [and shoot]. They were starting to go back, it looked like they could go back into production, and [everything shut down]."

Will you be tuning in to watch The Lost Boys series when it’s eventually released?
