The Series Adaptation of Y: THE LAST MAN Adds Timothy Hutton to the Cast

If you’re excited for the adaptation of Y: The Last Man, Y, you’ll be interested in knowing that Timothy Hutton has been cast. Hutton is currently said to only appear in the pilot as the U.S. President. This makes sense considering the premise revolves around there only being one male.

The DC Comics/Vertigo title was first launched in 2002 and revolves around Yorick Brown — the last surviving human with a Y chromosome — and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. The series follows escape artist Yorick after a mysterious plague as he sets out to find what might have wiped out the male chromosome.

Hutton joins the previously cast Diane LaneBarry Keoghan, Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield, Amber Tamblyn and Marin Ireland.

The series is being developed by showrunners Michael Green (American Gods, Blade Runner 2049, Logan) and Aida Mashaka Croal (Luke Cage, Turn). The creator of the comic is also a producer on the series. Melina Matsoukas (Insecure, Master of None, Beyonce: Formation) is set to direct the pilot.
