THE SHALLOWS Director Jaume Collet-Serra is Up to Helm SUICIDE SQUAD 2

I guess Mel Gibson passed on directing Suicide Squad 2 because there's a new director who is the frontrunner for the gig. That director is Jaume Collet-Serra, who most recently directed The Shallows

Collet-Serra has made a mix of fun and mediocre flicks. I don't think he's never really made a truly great film. Some of the other movies that he's directed include Non-Stop, Unknown, and Orphan. I personally think Warner Bros. could get a better director for Suicide Squad, but if he's the frontrunner, he must have had a great pitch.

David Ayer-directed the first film and most fans didn't seem to enjoy it. That being said, I guess Collet-Serra couldn't do any worse with the sequel. Ayer isn't coming back for the sequel because he's working on the Gotham City Sirens movie.

It'll definitely be interesting to see what's in store for this team of villainous characters in the next chapter of the story.

I was really hoping that Mel Gibson would end up taking the directing gig, but maybe Collet-Serra will end up giving fans something surprisingly awesome. We'll just have to wait and see. What do you think about the studio's new top director choice to take on Suicide Squad 2?
