THE SHINING Is Coming Back to Theaters with a DOCTOR SLEEP Sneak Peek
If you’ve never had the opportunity to watch Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining on the big screen, a new opportunity has presented itself. The film is set to hit select theaters on September 26th and October 1st, and if you go, you’ll also be treated with a new sneak peek for the upcoming sequel, Doctor Sleep.
If you’re interested in attending, head on over to Fandango to see if it’s playing in a theater near you and to get your tickets.
In The Shining, "Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) becomes the winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer's block. He settles in along with his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), who is plagued by psychic premonitions. As Jack's writing goes nowhere and Danny's visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel's dark secrets and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac hell-bent on terrorizing his family."
The Shining is one of my favorite horror movies, and it’s a film that I’ve never seen on the big screen. This is a film I’ve always wanted to see on the big screen, so I hope that I’ll be able to attend one of these screenings, which will present the film in 4k.
I’m also excited about Doctor Sleep and seeing the story continue in movie form, especially because it will actually connect to Kubrick’s version of the film, which the book doesn’t do.
In Doctor Sleep, “Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the ‘shine.’ Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.”
Check out screenings of The Shining on September 26th and October 1st. See Doctor Sleep in theaters on November 8th.
