Showrunner of Marvel's LOKI Says the Series Will Focus on Loki's "Struggle With Identity"

From what I know about Marvel’s upcoming Loki series, I’m pretty excited to see this fan-favorite character explored in more depth.

All we really know right now is that the show will follow the adventures of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after having escaped with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. According to previous reports, we’ve learned that he will be traveling through different periods of time while affecting some important moments of history. It also looks like he will be hunted down by the Time Variance Authority, who are basically time cops that patrol the timeline and take down criminals abusing the stream.

Showrunner Michael Waldron has offered up some additional details on the show. While a guest on the podcast Forever Dogs Podcast, he was asked what fans could expect from the show and this is what he said:

"I think it's the struggle with identity, who you are, who you want to be. I'm really drawn to characters who are fighting for control. Certainly you see that with Loki over the first 10 years of movies, he's out of control at pivotal parts of his life, he was adopted and everything and that manifest itself through anger and spite towards his family."

Again, I love that this character is going to be explored on a more personal level, and it will be interesting to see the character struggle with his identity and also see where that will end up taking him.

The show will also tie in with the series WandaVision in some way as well as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Kate Herron will direct the series, while Michael Waldron is on board as head writer. The show will also feature Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino in undisclosed roles.
