THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS Sequel Series CLARICE Picked Up at CBS and Will Get a Midseason Debut

We’ve got some new details to share with you regarding CBS’ upcoming Silence of the Lambs sequel crime drama Clarice to share with you. As a fan of these characters, this is a show that I’ve been excited about seeing.

The project was originally picked up for a pilot episode, but the network has officially picked it up and added it to its midseason lineup this year. The series comes from producers Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek) and Jenny Lumet (Rachel Getting Married) and it stars Rebecca Breeds (The Originals, Pretty Little Liars) in the role of FBI agent Clarice Starling.

Clarice is set in 1993, a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs and it will take “a deep dive into the untold personal story of Clarice Starling (Breeds), as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington, D.C.” Here’s a previously released description of the character:

Brilliant and vulnerable, Clarice graduated Magna from UVA with a double major in psych and criminology. Her bravery gives her an inner light that draws monsters and madmen to her. Her complex psychological makeup comes from a challenging childhood, and her drive comes from her need to escape the burden of family secrets that have haunted her throughout her life.

The series also stars Kal Penn, Nick Sandow, and Devyn A. Tyler in supporting roles. This is a show that fans of Silent of the Lambs won’t want to miss. It’ll be interesting to see what happened to Clarice Starling not long after her experience with Hannibal Lector and Buffalo Bill.

You can watch a brief video of Kurtzman and Lumet discussing their inspiration for the show below.
