THE SIMS SPARK'D is a New Competition Show Coming to TBS Based on the Popular Video Game
The Sims is a very popular video game where players get to create avatars and simulate real life. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy playing it from time to time. Well, Electronic Arts, Eleague, and Buzzfeed Multiplayer have teamed up to create a new reality competition show for TBS called The Sims Spark’d. The show is currently set to run for four episodes and will take some of the top The Sims players and have them create stories in the game in a set time limit. The more I think about it, the more the premise reminds me a little of LEGO Masters. The prize for winning the show is simple. Up to $100,000.
Rayvon Owen, a finalist on American Idol, will serve as host for the show with a panel of judges consisting of YouTube personality Kelsey Impicciche, game developer Dave Miotke, and singer Tayla Parx. Lyndsay Pearson of The Sims released the following statement:
Since its inception, The Sims has been a groundbreaking experience, allowing players to create and virtually live out the stories they create in-game. That’s what makes it so special. That’s also why this show is so exciting. We’re continuing that innovative spirit, bringing our community together to compete and showcase their in-game storytelling on a reality show in an entirely new way.
Viewers at home can even get in on some of the action as there will be different challenges put forth for fans as well. These challenges will provide viewers a chance to be on The Sims Spark’d in the future.
The Sims Spark’d will premiere on TBS on July 17 with Buzzfeed Multiplayer streaming the episodes the Monday after they air. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think of the new competition show.
