The STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC Remake is Reportedly Still in Development
We recently reported on a rumor saying that the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was no longer being developed. Well, for those of you who were hoping that wasn’t true, a new report has surfaced saying that the game is still alive and moving forward.
In a recent post on X, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said that he had spoken with two members of Saber Interactive, which is the gaming developer who took over production for the game from Aspyr last year. He said that they told him they were still working on the game.
“Can’t say whether the KOTOR Remake will ever actually come out, but yes, two people from Saber Interactive tell me they’re still on it, despite recent rumors that nobody is working on the game."
The initial report of the game being scrapped came from industry insider Jeff Grubb, who said: “I just want to clear it up, this game is not being worked on right now. Just full-stop. This game is not being worked on in any way at any studio.”
Grubb went on to add: “I looked into it a little bit. I don’t think this is news to most of you, I think you guys can piece this together if you’ve been listening to this and Sony stepping away and scrubbing mentions of Knights of the Old Republic from social media and YouTube. I think you can put two-and-two together, there, but just to 100 percent confirm it, this game is not being worked on right now.”
According to IGN, development of the game was stalled last year after Aspyr’s demo of the Knights of the Old Republic remake “didn’t land as well as it could have when it was shown to Lucasfilm and Sony.”
I’ve actually been excited about this remake, so I hope that this recent report of it still being in development is true.
