The STAR WARS Line That Mark Hamill Begged George Lucas to Remove From A NEW HOPE

An old 1977 video has resurfaced online featuring Mark Hamill appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. During the episode, a young Hamill talked about a line of dialogue that he begged George Lucas to remove from the script because it was so bad..

In regards to the line, the actor said, "Boy, I'll never forget it as long as I live. I sometimes dream about this line." Lucas obviously took the line out of the script, and you can listen to Hamill recite it in the video below. It's one of those things you just have to watch Hamill say; transcribing it won't do it any justice. It's pretty awful, though. It begins at the 3:34 mark.
