The STAR WARS: SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE Soundtrack Is Being Released on LP and CD Later This Summer

To celebrate Star Wars Day this year, Varèse Sarabande Records announced that they would be releasing the video game soundtrack for Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire by Joel McNeely on LP along with a reissued CD later this year. Shadows of the Empire is a classic Star Wars video game on the Nintendo 64 and PC. The fact that this soundtrack is being rereleased is awesome.

As part of the Shadows of the Empire multimedia project, a full soundtrack was composed by Joel McNeely and recorded with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Samples of the soundtrack were used in both versions of the game, with the Windows version containing many of the full tracks. The album art features the main Star Wars characters and was created by legendary illustrator Drew Struzan (Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future).

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it serves to bridge the gap between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. You control Dash Rendar, a mercenary who helps Luke Skywalker rescue Princess Leia from Prince Xizor.

You can pre-order your copy of the LP or CD reissue of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire now! The album will release on August 7.
