The STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Comic Reveals What Luke Skywalker Was Thinking Before He Died
A lot of Star Wars fans weren’t very happy with the way Luke Skywalker was handled in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Hell, Mark Hamill wasn’t even happy with it. Regardless, when it comes down to it, it was sad to see Luke Skywalker fade away in The Last Jedi. At least he got an epic showdown with Kylo Ren before it happened, and we know he’ll be back in Episode IX, so that’s good!
Thanks to the final issue of The Last Jedi comic book, some new light is shed on Luke Skywalker and what he was thinking right before he passed on. Let’s just dive into! I’ll let you red the comic book panels below:
I like this little inner monologue with Luke. I like that he sees it as the start of a whole new journey. It’s like everything came full circle for Luke. His journey began as he watched the two suns setting on Tatooine in A New Hope, and here he ends his physical journey and starts a new one as one with The Force.
His death is only taking him into a much larger world. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been curious about that other world. Ever since Obi-Wan Kenobi died and he started talking to Luke from beyond the dead, I’ve wanted to know what the afterlife is like in the Star Wars universe for the Jedi. Maybe J.J. Abrams will explore it a bit in Episode IX!
We know for sure that Luke will appear as a Force Ghost in Episode IX and that we’ll probably see him face off with Kylo Ren one more time. After all, he did tell him that he’d see him around.
In death, Luke Skywalker will become more powerful than Kylo Ren and the First Order could ever imagine. I can’t wait to see how Abrams handles Luke and continues his journey in Episode IX. Is there anything you’d like to see?
