The Story of How Tom Cruise Assassinated His Co-Workers With Post-Its While Training For COLLATERAL

Director Michael Mann and Tom Cruise’s hitman action thriller Collateral is such a great movie. I recently watched it again and was reminded of how awesome of a film it was. It’s definitely one of Cruise’s best movies.

Thanks to a recent screening event for the film at Ava DuVernay's theater in Los Angeles, Array 360, we have an amusing story to tell regarding how Mann had Cruise prepare for his role as a hitman. To get in the mindset of the character, Vincent, he went around assassinating his co-workers with Post-It notes.

During a special Q&A with director Michael Mann, he revealed that he put out mock hits on the people who worked in his office. The director assigned Cruise to take them out and to do that Cruise would follow his targets for days and get to know their patterns before making his move. That move was to slap a Post-It on their back and then tell them, “You’re dead.”

I love everything about this! I love that Cruise was stalking his co-workers like a hitman and then fake assassinate them with a Post-It note! I can’t help but think that he had a very fun time training to play Vincent in Collateral.

I just can’t help but laugh at the thought of Cruise sneaking around for days as he’s following his targets just to slap a Post-It note on their back! I’m sure if Cruise wanted to be a real assassin, he could be.
