The Stunt Tom Cruise Pulls Off in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 Is the Most Impressive and Unbelievable Thing He's Ever Done

About a month ago, Mission: Impossible 6 director Christopher McQurrie teased an epic action sequence that Tom Cruise is going to pull off in the film. He said:

"I came to Tom with a picture of something and Tom looked at it and said, ‘That’s awesome! I want to fall off of that!’ It’s like, OK, I can see it on a poster, and I can see Tom falling off of it.”

I have no idea if this is going to be the same stunt that was teased in this most recent interview, but according to Skydance Media CEO and Mission: Impossible series producer David Ellison, it's going to be the most insane stunt that Cruise has ever done, and he's been preparing for it for a year already to be able to pull it off!

Every Mission: Impossible film features a crazy cool signature stunt that makes audiences' jaws drop, but this might be the one that we've all be waiting for. In an interview with Collider, Ellison explained:

"We’re thrilled. [director Christopher McQuarrie] is back, obviously, writing and directing after Rogue Nation. We could not be more excited about the character Henry Cavill’s going to play. And I will say after the Burj [Khalifa] we thought it was going to be impossible to top that stunt, and then Tom did the A380 for the plane. What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable—he’s been training for a year. It is going to be, I believe, the most impressive and unbelievable thing that Tom Cruise has done in a movie, and he has been working on it since right after Rogue Nation came out. It’s gonna be mind-blowing."

As a long-time fan of this franchise, I can't wait to see what this "mind-blowing" stunt is going to entail. It's obviously going to be another death-defying stunt, but it's going to be unlike anything we've ever seen before.

The film also stars Henry Cavill, Venessa Kirby, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy RennerMission: Impossible 6 starts production in April and will hit theaters on July 27, 2018.
