The Three Actors Marvel Is Rumored to Have Their Eye On to Play King T'Challa in Upcoming BLACK PANTHER Movie(s)
Last week, it was reported that heavy rumors were flowing in Hollywood, suggesting that Marvel was looking to recast the role of Black Panther in the MCU.
When the second film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released, the studio chose to honor the late star Chadwick Boseman, by having his character pass, and having Letitia Wright’s Shuri step into the role of Wakanda’s protector.
They wanted to have a respectful transition that allowed the franchise to move forward while also preserving Boseman’s legacy. However, there are some fans who have continued to advocate for T'Challa to be recast to further explore the character's story.
Now, inside scooper @MyTimeToShineH is revealing who has been at the top of Marvel’s discussions to take on the role.
CBM reports that the prolific leaker stated: "Some of the actors Marvel Studios is/was considering to play 'New T'Challa' are: John David Washington, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Aaron Pierre."
Washington, the son of screen icon Denzel Washington, who revealed he’s joining the third Black Panther film, is best known for starring in Tenet, The Creator, and The Piano Lesson. Harrison Jr., meanwhile, most recently lent his talents to Mufasa: The Lion King and has received widespread acclaim for his work in Waves and Chevalier.
Perhaps the most interesting name on the list is Pierre, especially as the Rebel Ridge star was recently cast as the DCU's John Stewart in Lanterns. We'd imagine that's taken him out of the running and he may be the mystery actor who turned Marvel Studios down last year.
Who knows what will happen with the casting, and what will happen in the multiverse moving forward in the MCU? We will just have to wait and see if one of these actors steps into the shoes Boseman left behind.
