THE TICK is Making a Comic Book Comeback! SPOON!!!
The Tick is one of the many great things that I loved when I was growing up. I was a huge fan of the animated series and I also collected the comic books, which were incredibly fun to read. I love that we are seeing a resurgence of Tick greatness. Amazon Studios has a new live-action series coming out and now I've learned that the big blue hero is making a comic book comeback as well!
The new series will be co-written by Cullen Bunn (X-Men Gold) and Jimmy Z Johnston, with art by Douglas Paszkiewicz (Arsenic Lullaby). It's set to be released this summer and you can check out the cover art for the first issue above. It features The Tick and Arthur about to battle a horde of ninjas and clowns!
Here’s the information that was released on the comic:
Amazon is bringing The Tick back to TV this summer! And NEC is bringing The Tick back to comics in August with an all-new continuing color series! Written by Cullen Bunn (DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE, X-MEN BLUE, & HARROW COUNTY) and drawn by Douglas (Arsenic Lullaby) Paszkiewicz. The Tick and Arthur confront the dire menaces of ninjas and murder clowns, while also flashing back to blasts from The Tick’s here-to-for unexplored past! Join us for fun as Bunn imprints The Tick with his own creative style of story-telling! 32pg, FC, $3.99
The live-action series is set to premiere on August 25th and I imagine this comic will be released around the same time. Sounds like it will be a fun read!
