The Title for GHOSTBUSTERS 3 Has Reportedly Been Revealed
Director Jason Reitman’s upcoming Ghostbusters sequel has been referred to as Ghostbusters 3 and Ghostbusters 2020, but now we might have the actual title of the movie thanks to the Italian movie site BadTaste.It.
According to them, the film will reportedly be titled Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Sony Pictures has yet to confirm this, but that’s what the site says they’ve learned. I guess we’ll eventually find out if there’s any truth to this or not.
Reitman wrote the film with Monster House director Gil Kenan, and it will “focus on a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to ‘learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.’” It was recently confirmed by Dan Aykroyd that the film will also involve the descendants of the Ghostbusters. He’s also said:
“It’s gonna be scary, it’s gonna be thought-provoking, it’s gonna be very heartfelt. You’ll feel it, if you have loved ones that you miss and that you’ve lost, and you want to get back with. It’ll be very evocative that way.”
Reitman also previously talked about the movie, explaining that it’s an archaeological film:
“I feel like part of making what we call GB20, the next one, is a form of archeology. It is oddly in many ways an archaeological film. And we are kind of looking through the past — and I’ve been asking myself all the time — ‘What is it that makes it a Ghostbusters movie? What makes a Ghostbusters ghost a Ghostbusters ghost?’ So getting to see this original footage has been extraordinary. It’s been like finding the hidden opening to a pyramid.”
The movie stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace. They will be joined by Paul Rudd, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim. It’s also said that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, and Ernie Hudson will return to reprise their roles.
The new Ghostbusters movie is slated to hit theaters on July 10th, 2020.
