The Title of Dave Filoni's STAR WARS Movie Reportedly Revealed and it Makes Complete Sense

It was exciting to learn that Dave Filoni is going to be making a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. This movie is going to be a big event that will “close out” the interconnected stories in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka. The project has been described as being a “New Republic vs. Imperial Remnant” story.

Star Wars fans have been wondering what the title of the movie will be, and according to Twitter entertainment scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the movie will reportedly be titled Star Wars: Heir to the Empire.

With Grand Admiral Thrawn being the main villain of the story, it makes complete sense that’s what the movie would be called. As many of you already know, Heir to the Empire was the title of Timothy Zahn’s classic Star Wars novel. Now, the title has not been confirmed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what the title ended up being.

Filoni previously talked about Thrawn being the "big bad of this New Republic era," and he said: "Definitely, in my eyes." He went on to say, "Thrawn became this very iconic villain, because he was different than anything we'd seen before. He wasn't another helmet-wearing, lightsaber-wielding bad guy."

Thrawn is "a leader, a military strategist, a Moriarty archetype, someone that will out-think you, out-strategize you." These are all the reasons why fans love Thrawn and what makes him such an interesting and unique Star Wars villain. The “Heir to the Empire” is coming, and he is "a critical player in this time period." The character will make his live action debut in Ahsoka and he’s played by Lars Mikkelsen.

When previously talking about the movie, Filoni said: “The way I look at it, there are [small] stories, and then there's the big story of the day, too. A New Hope, [The Empire Strikes Back], and Return of the Jedi tell the important parts of the tale that really define the history of the period. There are all kinds of sub-stories underneath that. We've been building all these small stories."

The filmmaker then went on to discuss the theatrical experience, saying a film like the one he is making will feature an era-defining event: "To me, a theatrical experience has to have a big idea -- a monumental moment in the time period that changes what's happening. What Tony [Gilroy] has done [in Andor] and what we did in [Star Wars] Rebels, everything then changes when Luke blows up the Death Star. You're looking for those moments that define an era, and that's what the films really should be about -- whether it's characters coming together, or a defining moment."

We’ve still got a long way to go before we see this movie get made, but I’m excited to see what Filoni and his team deliver!
