THE TOWN and 13 HOURS Writer Chuck Hogan Adapting CROSSFIRE Game Into Movie

Chuck Hogan is the author of Prince of Thieves, the novel on which Ben Affleck's crime thriller The Town was based, and he's also known for co-creating the FX series The Strain and writing the screenplay for Michael Bay's 13 Hours. Now Deadline says he has a new gig in the works: the writer is penning the screenplay for a film adaptation of the game Crossfire. I know what you're thinking, but let me stop you right there before you get too excited — no, it isn't an adaptation of this game:

Instead, it's an adaptation of this one:

I've never played the game (or even heard of it, to be completely frank), but apparently it's a massive worldwide success. It came out in 2007, and it has 650 million users in over 80 countries. Fast & Furious producer Neal Moritz is producing the film version, but there's no timetable in place yet for filming or a director involved. Maybe that means they're actually going to let Hogan try to craft a decent script before they go gung-ho into production. Wouldn't that be a nice change of pace for Hollywood?
