Peter Dinklage's THE TOXIC AVENGER Remake Lands an R-Rating For "Strong Violence and Gore"
As you know, Legendary Pictures has produced a remake of the 1984 cult classic Troma film The Toxic Avenger. The film has a great cast that includes Peter Dinklage, Elijah Wood, Julia Davis, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, and Jacob Tremblay.
We’ve just learned that the MPAA has slapped the film with an R-rating for “Strong violence and gore, language throughout, sexual references and brief graphic nudity.” That’s pretty much what I was expecting. I mean, you can’t have a proper Toxic Avenger movie without all of that!
The synopsis for The Toxic Avenger reboot reads:
Based on the 1984 cult classic of the same name. Set in a fantasy world following Winston, a stereotypical weakling who works as a janitor at Garb-X health club and is diagnosed with a terminal illness that can only be cured by an expensive treatment that his greedy, power hungry employer refuses to pay for. After deciding to take matters into his own hands and rob his company, Winston falls into a pit of toxic waste and is transformed into a deformed monster that sets out to do good and get back at all the people who have wronged him.
When previously talking about the film, Dinklage described the film as being “over the top and crazy” and I have no doubt that’s what we’re gonna get! Actor Macon Blair (Blue Ruin, Green Room) is directing the film.
The Toxic Avenger remake doesn’t yet have a release date, so stay tuned.
