The Trailer for SELENA GOMEZ: MY MIND & ME Gets Real About Mental Health
Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the upcoming documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, and it puts a focus on her mental health journey. This looks like a powerful and emotional film about dealing with and overcoming issues with things like depression and anxiety.
The movie was directed and produced by Alek Keshishian (Madonna: Truth or Dare), and it chronicles Gomez’s health journey over the course of six years, including her struggles with lupus, depression, and anxiety.
The synopsis reads: “After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness. This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light.”
The director had this to say about the doc: “I had no interest in making a traditional pop doc. I wanted to show something more authentic and Selena did, too. She has a raw vulnerability that captured me… I had no idea then that it would become a six-year labor of love.”
Gomez says in the trailer: “Just be who you are, Selena. No one cares about what you’re doing. It’s about who I am, being okay with where I am. I am grateful to be alive.”
As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety, I hope that a doc like this can help others who are also struggling. Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me premieres globally on Apple TV+ on November 4th.
