The Trailer for THE OSIRIS CHILD is Like Every Sci-Fi Film Combined and it Looks Fun
The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One has a very intriguing title. You got Osiris Child, which is some obscure connection to an Ancient God. But then you get to the subtitle, "Science Fiction Volume One". It sounds like this film is supposed to be all of Science Fiction, and in a way it is! Not just taking a bunch of characters from other movies and combining them, but rather taking the tropes and feel and story from those movies and making them into one big 80's feeling sci-fi film.
This movie was filmed in Australia with a low budget and few big stars, but it manages to have a bunch of great looking scenes and effects in it. You have weird sci-fi guns, demonic looking aliens, an established hi-tech government, and a weird prison where multiple outlaws are held.
The trailer looks fun if not a little hokey, but something that makes it so great is the low-budget feel. Sci-fi with a low budget always is somehow more intriguing to me because I know that they can't do special effects as easily, so whatever they do have is more valuable. It's what makes films like the original Star Wars so great because we know they didn't just CG everything in post.
The film releases in Australia later this month but has yet to have an American distributor. Here's hoping someone picks it up.
