The Upcoming MEGA MAN Movie Will Be Written By THE BATMAN Writer Mattson Tomlin
It looks like Capcom is still moving forward with their plans to make a Mega Man movie. The last we heard, the film was being written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish, some Paranormal Activity sequels, and Nerve).
Well, it looks like some changes have been made since last year as THR has reported that The Batman screenwriter, Mattson Tomlin, has been hired to write the script. Chernin Entertainment is producing the film, who has been involved in making films such as Planet of the Apes, Ford v Ferrari, Hidden Figures, Oblivion, Underwater, and more. The movie was originally set up at Fox, but now Disney seems to be running with it.
There’s no word on if Joost and Schulman are still involved in some way, but this is the information for the film that was previously released:
Based on the influential and globally beloved Mega Man franchise, Capcom aims to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.
Mega Man was one of my favorite video games growing up and I’m really hoping that this film captures the awesomeness of the game and its lead character. I guess we’ll eventually find out!
