The Upcoming TV Series Based on FRANKENSTEIN Author Mary Shelley is Described as "Victorian X-Files"

Riverdale producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is currently developing a couple of new shows that you might be interested in. He’s working on a show called The Shelley Society, which is inspired by Frankenstein author Mary Shelley. He is also developing a Dracula inspired series called The Brides.

The Shelley Society is set up at HBO Max and thanks to Deadline, we have some new information to share with you. The series is described as being a “Victorian X-Files” and the story follows "young author Mary Shelley as she “leads a band of Romantic outlaws—among them, her lovers Percy and Lord Byron—against all manner of supernatural threats and monsters…including Frankenstein author Shelley’s own iconic Creature."

As for The Brides, the series doesn’t have a home yet but it’s described as a "sexy, contemporary reimagining of the Dracula saga as a family drama with a trio of powerful, diverse female leads. With strong horror elements, The Brides is a vampire soap about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy—and their non-traditional family." It’s also explained that the series is leaning "stronger into horror and sexuality as it reimagines the classic vampire characters."

Both these series sound like they have the potential to be great and fun shows. I like the concept for each of them and they sound like shows I would enjoy watching. We’ll just have to wait to see how they actually turn out!
