The Venomverse is Shaping Up to Have Some Awesome Villains in the Poisons
Secret Empire is done and now its time to move on to the next big Marvel arc. While there isn't any huge thing in the Marvel universe going on, there is a multi-universe battle about to take place in Venomverse.
Venomverse is similar to Spider-Verse, which took place a couple years ago. You got yourselves some characters that all have something in common, whether it's being a Spider-Person or a Venom person all being hunted by some other universe hopping entity. Spider-Verse ended up being a really good story that featured Spider-People from tons of different universes and ended up creating fan favorite Spider-Gwen. In the Spider-Verse, the big baddie was the Inheritors, Vampires who focus on eating Spider-people. Well, step aside, because Venomverse has got a new kind of villain.
Venomverse's villains are known as the Poisons. I mean, if you think about it too much it's kinda stupid. You got Venom and its enemy is Poison? Shouldn't they be called Antidote? Well, if you don't think about it too hard, it's pretty cool. Poisons are like a Venom but to Venoms. They take Symbioses as hosts and then feed on the body that the Symbioses are hosting, slowly killing them.
Just stick with me. I know it sounds kinda silly, but it ends up for a very interesting process. So you have this weird symbiotic entity called Poison hunting a slightly different symbiotic entity called Venom that just want to team up with people and kill people. It will be interesting to see if it ties into the Klyntar at all. They are the alien race that are the Venoms when not corrupted. *Sigh* Why do the Venom stories have to be so confusing...
The story follows our universe's Eddie Brock getting pulled into the war. Teaming up with a bunch of other Venom-like characters. Venom-Deadpool, Venom-Doctor Strange, Venom-Captain America, Venom Old Man Logan, Venom X-23, Venom Rocket Raccoon, etc etc. The Poisons, when not attached to a Venom, are these little white monsters that can psychically take the form of something innocent or something you care about, and if you touch it, it takes control of you and you become a poison version of yourself. Stronger and more deadly than a regular Venom-person. It adds a layer of strangeness to it. In a way, these Poisons are like Zombies, but if you become one you are stronger and faster and better than you were before, but you don't infect people; they are infected by little poisons.
It's all very confusing, but if you read the series, you'll get the gist of it. Anyway, the Poisons designs are pretty cool. VERY 90's edgy, but I like them. They take the Venom look and make it harder edged and almost robotic. Cap-Venom has already been taken over, and it just recently showed that the ruler of the Poisons is a Poison Doom. It's so cool to see this huge battle going on with crazy versions of your favorite heroes. Definitely worth reading if you like Venom and big battles between heroes.
