The VICTORIAN PSYCHO Trailer Turns Maika Monroe Into a Delightfully Twisted Killer
Bleecker Street has released the first full trailer for Victorian Psycho, and it looks like horror fans are in for something wildly twisted.
The upcoming horror comedy thriller stars Maika Monroe as an unsettling governess whose arrival at a secluded Victorian estate turns life into an absolute nightmare.
The movie blends gothic horror, dark comedy, and psychological mayhem into what looks like one seriously entertaining ride. I’ve heard that it’s a great movie!
It's said to be a clever, dark, funny take on the psychopathic killer genre that feels like an entertaining spin on American Psycho, only transplanted into Victorian England.
The official synopsis reads: "In the Year of our Lord 1858, an unusual governess named Winifred Notty arrives at the gothic manor known as Ensor House. Winifred's responsibilities include teaching the children manners and educating them about their family history – all whilst hiding her own psychopathic tendencies.
“As staff members start disappearing, the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there may be something amiss with their new governess... Victorian Psycho invites us into the mind of a psychopath – trapped in a world she cannot control, living on the border between insurrection and total madness."
Monroe continues proving she's one of the most exciting performers working in horror today, and she looks like she's having an absolute blast playing this wonderfully unhinged character.
She's joined by an outstanding cast that includes Jason Isaacs, Thomasin McKenzie, Ruth Wilson, Evie Templeton, Jacobi Jupe, Amy De Bhrún, Paul Reid, and Katherine Moran.
I genuinely had a great time with this movie. Monroe is fantastic, McKenzie is excellent, and the cast as a whole keeps the strange, offbeat energy humming from beginning to end. It's funny, creepy, stylish, and packed with enough psychological chaos to keep horror fans smiling.
Victorian Psycho is directed by Zachary Wigon, whose previous films include The Heart Machine and Sanctuary. The screenplay was written by Virginia Feito.
Victorian Psycho is set to be released in theaters on September 25, 2026.
