THE WALKING DEAD Panel Dropped the First Ten Minutes of DARYL DIXON Spinoff Series, Now Streaming on AMC+
This past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, fans were able to attend the panel for AMC’s The Walking Dead universe, and one of the highlights was seeing the first ten minutes of the premiere episode of the spinoff series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The episode begins with Daryl (Norman Reedus) strapped to a small capsized boat that is drifting to shore on a deserted French beach. After he gains consciousness and washes up, he walks down the streets of the city, boarding another boat to see what he can find. He comes across a bottle of water, a coat, and a tape recorder. When he hits play, a father who he sees in a photo with his wife and daughter, explains: "19 months at sea. Hoping to stay ahead of this thing. Circled Spain. Nowhere's safe. We'll try Marseille next. Maybe the south of France is good. There's got to be a safe place somewhere. Sue had a heart attack. We had to let her go. I had to… take care of it. Our 10th anniversary would have been in June. Holly keeps crying. She wants her mum back. She wants things the way they were. She wants to go home."
Daryl then records a message of his own, saying, "My name's Daryl Dixon. I come from a place called the Commonwealth. It's in America. I went out looking for something. All I found was trouble. If I don't make it back, I want them to know I tried. Hell, I'm still trying."
He then scavenges at a small shop, where he has to fight off walkers who seem to be steeped in an acidic liquid, which burn his arm. Daryl then has a run in with a woman and her elderly father, who are confronted by gun-wielding men in a truck. After a scuffle, Daryl awakens in a convent under the care of a nun he had previously seen in the distance. He connects with her as she cares for his wounds, and he sees a child who lives there as well.
It’s a great, intriguing intro into what looks like it’s going to be a really exciting series. Check it out, and watch The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon when it debuts on September 7th on AMC+ and September 10th on AMC.
