THE WALKING DEAD Producer Scott Gimple Offers Update on Rick Grimes Movie Saying Andrew Lincoln Is "Itching to Get Back"
It seems like a lot of our readers are over and done with The Walking Dead franchise, but believe it or not, the series is still thriving, and it has a huge and loyal fanbase. I’m still watching and enjoying the series! I like the direction the show is headed, and I’m in for the long haul.
One of The Walking Dead projects that I’m most excited about is the upcoming trilogy of films that will focus on Rick Grimes and what happened to him after he was taken away by the Civic Republic Military in a helicopter. His new adventure is set in a different corner of The Walking Dead universe alongside the character Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh).
During a recent interview with CB, series producer Scott Gimple offered an update on the film projects and says that Andrew Lincoln is very involved and excited to get back:
"So much of what we've been doing is honing and tweaking and experimenting, and we're just in the lab with it. And we've been playing around a lot. We were doing that before and now it's forced upon us. We don't know when we would be doing it if everything was finished right now, we just don't know, but we're still in the lab. We're still goofing around with it. We're still playing around with it."
He goes on to say that Lincoln is "super involved" with the project and that "he throws around the football with the rest of us. He's very, very interested in this thing… And I got to tell you, he's itching to get back, too. We all are.”
When previously talking about the project Gimple said:
"I will say that as Rick took us into the zombie apocalypse, and was our avatar in entering this world, he is going to be our avatar in seeing a much bigger world with a lot of things that have been going on behind-the-scenes, out of our characters comprehension, and so, we're going to discover a whole lot through him, and as there is a little connection to the new show, so people will see some things about the new show and go, 'Wait a minute. What's up there?' So, get ready."
Well, it’ll be interesting to see how the story of Rick unfolds!
