THE WALKING DEAD's Melissa McBride Departs Daryl and Carol Spinoff Series at AMC
In surprising news, it has been reported that The Walking Dead star Melissa McBride has pulled out of the upcoming spinoff series that was set to center around her character, Carol, and Norman Reedus’ Daryl at AMC. The Walking Dead is wrapping up its flagship series with the second half of its 11th and final season that will air later this year. The show was then set to branch off into a couple different projects, one being an anthology series set in the world of TWD, and one centered on Daryl and Carol, two of the only characters remaining from Season 1.
These two are for sure fan favorites, so this series made sense, but McBride has decided to leave the show behind for good, centering the new series on Daryl alone. He’s a strong enough character to hold a series alone though, so it should still be a solid show. Walking Dead-verse chief content officer Scott M. Gimple and Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang are co-creating the series.
No comment has been made at this time regarding her departure, but I do remember the actress stating she would be happy to be able to spend more time with her kids and grandkids when the series was over, so maybe this is purely a choice about family, and I can respect that for sure.
Are you looking forward to a series about Daryl on his own?
