The Weeknd Will Star Opposite Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan in a Film He Co-Wrote and Produced

Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, is making his way to the big screen! The Grammy-winning superstar is taking on his first-ever starring role in a feature film that he's not only starring in but also co-writing and producing. Joining him in the film are Jenna Ortega, the star of Wednesday and Scream VI, and Barry Keoghan, who recently appeared in The Banshees of Inisherin.

The movie, which is being directed by Trey Edward Shults (Waves and It Comes at Night), is currently untitled and the story is shrouded in mystery. All we really know other than the talent involved is that it's shooting in Los Angeles.

Tesfaye's producing partner Reza Fahim is co-writing and co-producing the film with him, and Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss are also producing. Meanwhile, Chayse Irvin is handling the cinematography, and composer and producer OPN (real name Daniel Lopatin) will be scoring the film alongside The Weeknd himself. OPN has previously worked on the scores for Good Time and Uncut Gems, in which The Weeknd had a cameo role as himself.

The Weeknd will next be seen in the upcoming HBO series The Idol, which he co-created with Euphoria's Sam Levinson and Fahim.
