Idris Elba and Dominic West, the actors who portrayed McNulty and Stringer Bell on The Wire, have joined Pixar's Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory. West revealed the news in an interview with ShortList saying:
"I saw Idris recently. We’re both in the sequel to Finding Nemo, so we were recording that. I’m in pretty regular contact with a lot of guys from The Wire — a lot of them are godparents to my kids, so I love them dearly."
I never thought I'd see these two hardcore characters from The Wire in a Pixar film, but here they are. They join an already impressive cast that includes Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Willem Dafoe, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, and Ty Burrell.
The story takes place a year after the first film, and is set along the California coastline.
"A traumatizing event sets off Dory’s 'homing instinct,' and the forgetful fish sets out in search of her family, who are living on a reef. Meanwhile, Nemo and Marlin are out looking for her."
The movie hits theaters on June 17th, 2016.
