THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN Gets a Cool Behind the Scenes Promo Trailer
We’ve got a new behind the scenes promo trailer for you to watch for Netflix’s awesome-looking Witcher prequel miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin. I’m really stoked about this project, and it looks like it’s going to give fans quite the epic fantasy adventure.
We recently got a new trailer for the series over the weekend which you can watch here in case you missed it. The new video features new footage and interviews with the cast and crew as they discuss what we can expect from the series and how the story will fill in a lot of the mysteries surrounding the history of the Continent, which is the main setting for all Witcher stories.
The show is set in an elven world 1200 years before the time of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, and The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell a tale lost to history: the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that led to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
The Witcher: Blood Origin cast will be led by three different characters portrayed by Laurence O’Fuarain (Vikings) as Fjall; Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) as Scían; and Sophia Brown (Giri/Haji, Marcella) as Éile. Minnie Driver is also part of the cast.
Laurence O’Fuarain is set to take on the role of Fjall, who was born into a clan of warriors sworn to protect a King, he “carries a deep scar within, the death of a loved one who fell in battle trying to save him. A scar that won’t let him settle, or make peace with himself or the world around him. In his quest for redemption, Fjall will find himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil.”
Michelle Yeoh takes on the role of Scían, “the very last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves. No one can come close to her artistry with the blade, and no one carries as much loss within their heart. When a chance presents itself to retrieve a stolen sacred sword, taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means, she launches herself into a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the Continent.”
Sophia Brown plays Éile, “an elite warrior who left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to become a nomadic musician; however, a grand reckoning forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.”
The Witcher: Blood Origin is executive produced by Declan de Barra, who also serves as the showrunner. It will be directed by Sarah O’Gorman and Vicky Jewson. The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will also serve as an executive producer. Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant on the series.
The four-part prequel series premieres on Netflix on December 25th!
