THE WITCHER Game Franchise is Being Developed as a Series For Netflix

Netflix has announced that they will be developing a new epic fantasy series based on the hit video game franchise The Witcher. The game itself is based on a series of novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. There are eight novels and they will serve as the main inspiration for the new series.

The story centers on "witchers", who are hunters that develop supernatural powers at a young age. These powers allow them to battle deadly monsters. Executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown released the following statement offering some insight into the story that the series will tell:

“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”

Erik Barmack, Netflix Vice President, international series added:

“We couldn’t be more excited about bringing The Witcher saga to Netflix members around the world.”

I've never read the books, but I've always thought the game would make a great movie or TV series. A series at Netflix seems like the perfect way to go. They are doing great things right with the fantastic films and series that they are producing.

That's all the details we have on the series so far but I'm excited about this! This series has the potential to be an incredible fantasy series! I can't wait to see how it all comes together. What do you all think about Netflix producing a series based on The Witcher franchise?
