THE WITCHER Producer Says Liam Hemsworth "Looks Awesome" as Geralt of Rivia
As you know, Liam Hemsworth is replacing Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 4. A lot of fans are still upset over this drastic change in actors and many believe it’s a major downgrade. In preparation to play the role, Hemsworth obviously had to do some screen tests as the monster hunter and according to The Witcher’s producer, Tomek Baginski, the actor looks awesome in the role.
During an interview with Express Online, Baginski said: "One thing I can tell is I’ve already seen [Liam] in Witcher makeup and in the Witcher look. And he looks awesome." He went on to say:
"The next stage will be Liam Hemsworth in this role and he will be given space, he will be given his voice. He has to discover this character for himself and, for me, it is crazily exciting. Especially in the world of the books, which kind of allow this unsureness. There are so many angles on so many stories which happen in the books. So it will be a great discovery to do it again."
The creative team has been really trying to build the hype for Hemsworth, but fans don’t seem to be buying it. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich previously talked about Hemsworth’s casting, saying:
"I'm so excited for viewers. I think that it's just a new chapter for us. And I think new chapters bring new energy and that people will find things to love. So yeah, personally, I'm really excited."
When previously talking about how Hemsworth’s Geralt will be introduced in the series, producer Baginski said:
"We have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new vision for Geralt with Liam. Not going deeply into those ideas because this will be a huge spoiler, [but] it's also very, very close to the meta ideas which are deeply embedded in the books, especially in book five."
In Andrzej Sapkowski's fifth book in the series… Spoilers… it sees Ciri go through a portal and find herself in a different world. So it’s being speculated that the creative team is planning on Hemsworth’s Geralt being a variant of sorts from another universe. But, we’ll just have to wait and see about that.
Will you continue to watch The Witcher after Season 3, or are you going to bow out when Cavill’s gone?
