THE WITCHER Season 2 Photos Offer a First Look at Ciri Looking Like a Badass

We’ve got a couple of new photos from Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2, and they give us our first look at Freya Allan as Ciri in training with a wooden sword. It also features her sporting a new outfit.

Ciri has certainly looks like she’s been toughened up by her experiences in the first season. In case you don’t remember, she was tormented by doppels and the forces of Nilfgaard. Now it looks like she’s ready to kick some ass.

New cast members have also joined the second season of the series, with confirmation that Norwegian Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju has officially joined the show as Nivellen. Other new cast members include Yasen Atour (Young Wallender) as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen (Fast and Furious 9) as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, and newcomer Mecia Simson as Francesca.

They join returning cast members Henry Cavill, who leads the cast of The Witcher saga in the role of Geralt of Rivia; Anya Chalotra as the sorceress Yennefer; and Joey Batey as the bard Jaskier, who sings the signature ballad “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” from the series.

Other returning cast include MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Lilly Cooper as Murta, Jeremy Crawford as Yarpin Zigrin, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Terence Maynard as Artorius, Lars Mikkelson as Stregobor, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla Vigo, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold, and Therica Wilson Read as Sabrina.

The first season of the series was a big hit with audiences, and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement:

“The reaction to season one of The Witcher set a high bar for adding new talent for the second season. [Casting director] Sophie Holland and her casting team have once again found the very best people to embody these characters, and in the hands of these accomplished directors, we’re excited to see these new stories come to life.”

Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia, “a solitary monster hunter who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than the beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”

Season 2 will be directed by Stephen Surjik (Umbrella Academy) who will direct 201 and 202; Sarah O’Gorman (Cursed) for episodes 203 and 204; Ed Bazalgette (The Last Kingdom) for episodes 205 and 208; and Geeta Patel (Meet The Patels) for episodes 206 and 207.

There are also reports that Netflix has locked in Season 3 of the series, and they are looking at producing spinoff shows.
