THE WOLFPACK Trailer: An Unbelievable True Story of The Power of Movies

Movies have the power to transport us to new worlds, and there are countless stories about how films have changed the lives of cinephiles, directors, actors, and people everywhere. But sometimes, the power of movies transcends the normal level of impact and becomes something else: a means of survival. That's what happens in The Wolfpack, a Sundance prize-winning documentary about a group of boys who were locked away in a New York apartment by their father. Films were one of the few things they had to entertain themselves, so they recreated as many of their favorites as they could as a way to cope with not being able to regularly interact with the outside world.

Magnolia Pictures has released the synopsis and first trailer for the documentary, which you can see below. The movie hits limited release on June 12th.

Locked away from society in an apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Angulo brothers learn about the outside world through the films that they watch. Nicknamed the Wolfpack, the brothers spend their childhood re-enacting their favorite films using elaborate homemade props and costumes. With no friends and living on welfare, they feed their curiosity, creativity, and imagination with film, which allows them to escape from their feelings of isolation and loneliness. Everything changes when one of the brothers escapes, and the power dynamics in the house are transformed. The Wolfpack must learn how to integrate into society without disbanding the brotherhood.
