THE WONDER YEARS Reboot Gets Pilot Order at ABC
The classic series The Wonder Years followed the life of Kevin Arnold and his family and friends as they grew up in the tumultuous 1960s and 70s. The show ran for six seasons from 1988 to 1993, and it’s no secret that the show is my favorite series of all time. It was my favorite show as a kid, and I have major nostalgia when I rewatch it, but I don’t revisit it often because it makes me cry, a lot. But it’s a fantastic series, and I couldn’t recommend it more.
When I heard the series was getting a reboot, I naturally had reservations, but I am actually totally on board with this new idea. The new series “will be set in the same era as the original, looking at how a black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama in the turbulent late 1960s made sure it was The Wonder Years for them too.”
I love that they are setting the series in the same time period, which was so turbulent in American history. It will be a totally different story being set in Alabama with a black family, as they would have had a very different experience in that setting.
The series has been ordered to pilot at ABC, and as set to shoot this spring. Are you interested in this new Wonder Years series?
