The Writer of FANBOYS Wants to Make a Sequel Focusing on Stealing The JUSTICE LEAGUE Snyder Cut

I’m sure many of you remember the 2009 film Fanboys, which is set in 1999 and follows a group of friends who embark on a mission to break into Skywalker Ranch in an attempt to steal a rough cut of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. They embark on their journey because one of their friends was diagnosed with cancer, and they don’t know if he’ll make it long enough to see the movie. It’s a silly movie, but it’s filled with heart.

The writer of the film, Adam F. Goldberg (The Goldbergs), is now considering making a sequel and is meeting with the film’s original director Kyle Newman to discuss the possibilities for Fanboys 2. The sequel would follow a group of friends who attempt to steal the Justice League Snyder Cut.

The whole rumor behind this was started by Discussing Film, and Goldberg responded to the post saying if Ernest Cline (Ready Player One) – who co-wrote the screenplay for Fanboys – returned, he’d be on board as well. Here’s the post:

I don’t know if this idea spawned from a rumor, or if this was something that was really an idea in development. Regardless of what it was, Goldberg is now actively trying to get the project off the ground. Goldberg Tweeted:

I actually kinda like this idea. There’s been so much hype and fan passion around The Snyder Cut that a Fanboys sequel about a group of fans trying to steal it could be fun to watch! The first film also had a ton of great cameos in it, and I’m sure that they would do the same thing for the sequel. It’s not hard to imagine some of the Justice League stars showing up in the movie, maybe even Zack Snyder.

The original film starred Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette, Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, and Kristen Bell. It’d be great to see the gang get back together, but 20 years have passed since the 1999 set film. So, the timing might not work for it. Regardless, this is still a fun idea.

I hope that Goldberg and his creative team can make this happen! I’d be curious to see how this story would play out!
