The Writer of SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Doesn't Think We'll See a Sequel Anytime Soon

Solo: A Star Wars Story was a great film! The majority of fans who saw it seemed to love it. The movie made over $400 million worldwide, but that might not be enough money to warrant a sequel. Solo had a great setup for a sequel and fans of the film would love to see it happen! But, according to co-writer Jon Kasdan, that sequel isn’t going to happen anytime soon. He recently shared the following comments on Twitter:

"Will there ever be a sequel 'cause it really seems like you guys were setting one up? To be honest, I think the challenge has more to do with the foreign box office than the U.S. Personally, I think there are great Star Wars movies to be made that don't need to cost quite so much. Hopefully that will be the trend in years to come, and maybe, just maybe, that trend will allow us, one way or another, to tell more stories with Alden [Ehrenreich], Joonas [Suotamo], Emilia [Clarke], and Donald [Glover]."

"With those actors and [Ron Howard], I would jump at the opportunity. Given the way Hollywood, and the culture at large, seem to run from anything labeled a disappointment, the odds seem like they're against it happening anytime soon. But, I suppose, Han wouldn't have it any other way."

It would be a shame if we never see a sequel to Solo, especially with the surprising return Maul! That alone is one of the main reasons fans want a sequel so bad! I would love to see his character explored more, especially his relationship with Qi’ra. There are so many different directions that they could take the story and I want to see the adventure continue for these Han, Lando, Chewy, and the others!

Hopefully, Lucasfilm and Ron Howard team back up for a sequel for Solo sooner rather than later. But, unfortunately, there’s a chance a sequel will never happen. Do you think Lucasfilm will ever get to make a Solo sequel?
