There Was Almost a CAPTAIN MARVEL Post-Credits Scene Tied Into THOR: RAGNAROK
The post-credits scenes for Captain Marvel were pretty cool and one of them made sure to set up certain events in Avengers: Endgame. I won’t get into the details of it, but if you’ve seen the movie, then you know what I’m talking about.
Anyway, it turns out that there was another post-credits scene that was planned by directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden and that scene would’ve tied back to Thor: Ragnarok.
There are some Captain Marvel spoilers in the explanation of this alternate post-credits so if you don’t want anything spoiled for you, don’t read ahead.
During an interview with Empire, Fleck revealed that the post-credits scene would have focused on the fate of Jude Law‘s character Yon-Rogg.
At the end of of the film Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) takes Yon-Rogg and throws him into a ship, and launches him back into space to Hala to send the Kree a message.
In the scene, we would have seen that Yon-Rogg never made it back to Hala. Instead, he would have ended up on the planet Sakaar from Thor: Ragnarok. Fleck says:
“There was an idea on the table about having Jude Law emerge from his pod on Sakaar, and then have him look around and see the Devil’s Anus behind him and wonder, ‘Where the hell am I?'”
I’m sure you all remember that Sakaar is the garbage dump planet where Jeff Goldblum’s The Grandmaster held his gladiator battles.
So, I guess Yon-Rogg would’ve gotten sucked into The Devil’s Anus and spit out on Sakaar years before the events of Thor: Ragnarok.
