There's a BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Comic Sequel Being Co-Written By John Carpenter!

Big Trouble in Little China filled my childhood with awesomeness. I freakin' loved that film and watched it countless times. Back in the day, there were ideas for a sequel but they never materialized. However, after all these years we are finally going to see Jack Burton return in a sequel in comic book form. The comic series is called Big Trouble In Little China: Old Man Jack and the best part is, it's being co-written by the director of the original film John Carpenter!

The news comes from Screen Rant, who revealed that the story will revolve around Jack Burton's "final ride in the Pork-Chop Express". Here's the plot synopsis:

The year is 2020, and hell is literally on Earth. Ching Dai, sick of relying on screw-ups like Lo Pan to do his bidding, has broken the barriers between Earth and the infinite hells, and declared himself ruler of all.

Sixty-year-old Jack Burton is alone in a tiny corner of Florida with only his broken radio to talk to, until one day it manages to pick up a message. Someone is out there in the hellscape, and they know a way to stop Ching Dai."

I really hope that the whole reason for this comic is to help spark interest in a film. I've always wanted to see a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China and if this story they are going to tell in the comic is good, I'd love to see a movie get made.

A couple years ago is was announced that Dwayne Johnson would be staring in a remake of the original film but Carpenter was not involved with it. Hell, I'm not even sure if that project is still happening because I haven't heard anything regarding it the past couple of years.

The cover art of the first issue above was created by artist Stephane Roux. Borderlands 2 writer Anthony Burch will co-write the series with Carpenter.
