There's a Cool Touching Story Behind Thor's "Friend From Work" Line in THOR: RAGNAROK
One of the best lines of dialogue in the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok is when Thor sees the Hulk smash through the doors of the gladiator arena and he looks up at Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster and calls Hulk a "friend from work."
That line of dialogue wasn't in the original script but it sure did get a ton of laughs from the fans. We already reported that 80% of the movie was improvised, but this line actually has a very cool and touching origin. Chris Hemsworth revealed that origin in an interview with Entertainment Weekly saying:
“We had a young kid, a Make-A-Wish kid on set that day. He goes, ‘You know, you should say, ‘He’s a friend from work!’”
And they ended up using it! How awesome in that!? That kid has got to be so stoked that they actually used his suggestion in the movie. It's such a funny line that works so perfectly in the scene. I love that the line came from a young Marvel fan.
