There's a FRIDAY THE 13TH Spinoff Film Being Planned That Will Focus on Creighton Duke

As we wait for Friday The 13th to be rebooted again, the director of Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, Adam Marcus, is planning a spinoff film! It's actually a pretty interesting idea and it will focus on the character Creighton Duke. For those of you who need a refresher of who this character is:

A teenage Creighton was out on Crystal Lake with his girlfriend. Jason capsized their small boat and pulled the girl down into the lake. Creighton tried to save her but could not. She was never seen again. Creighton vowed revenge and from that moment on he spent his life in the study and pursuit of Jason. He became a bounty hunter just to fund his work in taking down his nemesis.
An unpredictable and sadistic man, Duke operated out of a private training compound and was credited with personally capturing a total of six known serial killers. At some point in his career, Duke had a personal encounter with Jason Voorhees and luckily managed to survive. The details surrounding this encounter remain unknown.

Duke is certainly one of the more interesting characters that have been introduced in the classic horror franchise. In the end, Jason ended up snapping Duke's spine and he was thought to be dead. During a recent interview on the Without Your Head podcast, Marcus explained:

"Creighton Duke didn't die. There's the answer. He did not die. The way I shot it was to give you this moment of 'Oh no!', but honestly, he exhales, but you don't really see the light go out of his eyes. And to that end, my new production company Skelton Crew is basically doing something to resurrect Creighton Duke as a standalone character."

I actually like the idea of branching out the franchise with different characters. This would actually go back to the original vision of the franchise. When Friday The 13th first launched it was supposed to be more of an anthology film series until the creative team decided to stick with focusing on Jason.

I have no idea if this spinoff film will actually happen, but it would be interesting if it did. There's nothing wrong with exploring other interesting characters within a franchise. Something like this could actually spark new life and excitement in the franchise.

What do you think about the possibility of seeing a Friday The 13th spinoff film that focuses on Duke?
