There's a Live-Action SWAMP THING Series in Development!
I've been a fan of Swamp Thing ever since I first saw that original 1982 movie! I thought that was the coolest and freakiest thing when I was a kid! I didn't get into the comic books until a little later, but I've been hoping that we would see another Swamp Thing movie one day, and I've been looking forward to that Justice League Dark film. But, until we find out what's going on with that film, I've got some pretty cool news for you!
DC Entertainment is developing a live-action Swamp Thing TV series that will stream on the upcoming DC-branded streaming service. Swamp Thing was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, and this will be a one-hour drama series.
The story will follow "CDC researcher Abby Arcane, who returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all."
The series is being written and produced by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman. James Wan (Aquaman) is also an executive producer on the series, which is pretty cool. He'll help
The studio is looking to launch the series in 2019 and I can't wait to see how it turns out! The DC streaming service will also air series such as Titans, the Harley Quinn animated series and Young Justice: Outsiders.
