There's a New BAND OF BROTHERS Follow-Up Series Coming Called MASTERS OF THE AIR
In 2001, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks produced an incredible World War II series for HBO called Band of Brothers. That was followed up by The Pacific in 2010. I love these shows and I actually just recently finished rewatching them. I’ve been wondering and hoping to see if we would get another one of these WWII series and I’m excited to report there is another one coming!
Spielberg and Hanks are teaming up with Apple TV+ to bring up Master of the Air, a limited series drama based on a book of the same name by Donald L. Miller. Masters of the Air is said to follow “the true, deeply personal story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep.”
I love that they are going to be telling this story of the American bomber boys! The series is being written by Band of Brothers alumnus John Orloff, who is also a co-executive producer. Graham Yost, who also worked on Band of Brothers, will return to co-executive produce
Masters of the Air will stream exclusively on Apple TV+ and it’s also the second project for Apple that comes from Spielberg’s Amblin Television. The other series he’s developing for them is Amazing Stories.
If you go back and watch Band of Brothers and The Pacific, you’ll see a lot of big-name actors in it that were nobodies when these shows were released. Some of those actors include James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Simon Pegg, Jon Bernthal, Rami Malek, and more. It’s pretty cool to see that this was the big break for some of them.
Anyway, I’m excited for this Masters of the Air series and can’t wait to see how it turns out!
