There's a New Bully Coming To STRANGER THINGS Season 2 and He Was Influenced By Jack Nicholson in THE SHINING
There are a shit-ton of pop culture references in the first season of Stranger Things and we know for a fact that there will be a shit-ton more in Season 2. We've already seen a few of them teased in the trailers that have been released, but there's going to be a lot more thrown at us as we watch the series unfold.
Some of these references won't be so in-your-face or noticeable, though. There's a new bully being introduced this season named Billy, who is played by Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers), and that antagonist pulled inspiration from Stanely Kubrick's classic horror film The Shining.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Montgomery opened up about his character, Billy, and reveals what it is that makes his character tick:
“He’s a bit of an antagonist to be honest. The reference from these boys over here, the Duffer Brothers, was kind of like Jack Nicholson in the Shining. Somebody with an unpredictable nature. Somebody who sort of unnerves the audience.”
We haven't seen a lot of this character in the trailers so I'm curious to see more and see how the actor used Jack Torrance to help bring him to life. The actor also reveals that the character isn't from Hawkins. He's from California and he adds "a bit of spice placed in this amazing recipe that has been so tasty and has been so successful." He goes on to say:
"He blows through town. He comes from out of town from California. He ruffles a few feathers and I think that sums him up without giving too much away."
Well, we'll find out tomorrow what role this character plays in the story when the series hits Netflix! The anticipation is killing me!
